Non-Stigmatisation - Coming to a point of acknowledging that we suffer from dissociation is a tremendously courageous thing to do - and many of us are afraid to permanently do that. There exists a social stigma about dysfunctional behaviour that often makes it harder to acknowledge than physical illness.
Swallowing our Pride or rather our inflated egos - Acknowledging that our words and our actions may have hurt others is equally difficult. There may be self-reparations to make. We may have to turn from condemning others to understanding ourself. It takes great courage and humility to do this.
We fear our Unknown leaving the comfort of our constructed dreamscape - it's normal to feel afraid of things which you do not understand or know well. When it comes to seeking help for dissociation it is even more so. These are all frightening ideas to most of us.
The Ten Stages is a studied recovery course.
