We start to acknowledge our replicated familial history of betrayal, we are ready to take responsibility and understand our long past history.

We start to see the past patterns of our sometimes spontaneous 
inappropriate behaviour. This speaks louder to us than any apology, promise. All too often our apologies and promises only disguise our resistance to change—and our desire to get others’ approval and have them meet our thwarted childhood needs. We have long been doing this, and now we need to stop it. We say goodbye to our addictions, our negative attitudes, our self- destructive dynamics, our manipulations, and our exploitative patterns. Our changed life using the tools of loving-kindness are the proof that we understand sometimes for the first time about our old ways and are serious about beginning anew. Our changed life is a gift to ourselves . Yet not all may be comfortable with our transition. Others are used to us behaving in the old dissociated ways. We may lose some friends and intimates—and even family members. With this in mind, we act gently and with compassion. But we act. We may feel like lone individuals on our journey, but as we begin to radiate the truth of positive, constructive message of change, our whole world view begins to shift.






The Ten Stages is a studied recovery course.
