We finally admit that we have a true self our child within that can heal and regain control over our lives, and that this is the reason why we have become addicted and dysfunctional because of all of our unresolved childhood traumas! Our life as a result has become toxic so disturbed and dysfunctional that we resort to dissociation in alcohol, drugs, food, romance etc. . We grasp that the root of our problem is not alcohol, drugs, food etc but all the trauma we experienced as children and have not yet acknowledged, and that’s why we come to the stages. If we can cure the root causes of our addiction, make gentle contact and develop a caring relationship with our child within then everything will be start to be resolved and we will understand true recovery.
